The project, which is set to begin the week of Monday, May 6, will construct a sidewalk along Fair Street and Juniper Hill Road leading to the Lee Jackson School in Greenburgh, Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said.
The project resulted from students' desire for a safer walk to the school, Feiner added.
Construction is set to cause traffic delays on Juniper Hill Road through the rest of the school year and is expected to be completed by the end of the summer. By the end of the project, 1,200 linear feet of sidewalk will be built.
"This sidewalk will be an important pedestrian safety improvement in our town," Feiner said, also commenting on the traffic impacts: "As the saying goes – no pain, no gain."
Another sidewalk in Greenburgh on Hillside Avenue from the Town Hall to North Road is also currently being built and is expected to be finished by the end of May.
